April Favorites

I truly feel like I just got done writing my March favorites. This year is truly speeding right on by! In April I had lots of fun lil adventures--from spring break in Florida to a leadership retreat at camp (Good Earth Village)--and I tried lots of new things. Here are 10 of my favorite things from April:

1. Sophia Corso

I just recently discovered Sophia on YouTube and I'm in love with her content and channel. She is open about mental health, funny, and very real (which is unlike many YouTubers). I have been watching her videos for the past few days and she never fails to boost my mood.

2. I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika Sanchez

This book is a work of art, in my opinion. It follows the life of teen Julia after her sister dies after being hit by a bus and her feeling as if she is not enough in comparison to her late sister in her parents' eyes. It taps into mental health, LGTBTQ+, and the grieving process among many other things.

3. Workin' Moms

This show gets me every time. It is so gosh darn funny and relatable (for moms, especially). It follows the story of a few different new mothers as they go back to work and navigate the feelings and tribulations of that transition.

4. Lizzo

My dad and I have been listening to Lizzo on The Current (a local radio station) for years, butI had never sat down and listened to her music (I definitely should have). And then I heard the song "Truth Hurts" by her and was sucked in and am obssessed. Y'all need to listen to her now. Especially because she is a Minnesota native.

5. Iced Caramel Macchiato

To be honest, this is just my favorite coffee to order at my campus bookstore, Caribou, or Starbucks. None of them makes them better in my opinion, it's just really great. And if you know me, you know I prefer black coffee, so it's saying a lot that I even have a sugary coffee drink on this list.

6. Bath & Body Works Stress Relief Lotion

This time of year equals big stress boys in a college student's life. It seems as though every single paper, exam, and quiz is happening at the same time. I've used the body wash version of this for a while, but I picked up the lotion version on sale a while ago and just began using it. And it truly is a stress reliever (and skin hydrator, my skin has been oddly dry lately).

7. Paper Studio Washi Tape Set

Although I've been into bullet journaling for a good while now, I didn't really have any interest in using washi tape for my layouts until I joined the Instagram bujo community and saw how gorgeous it looked. So when I found myself at Hobby Lobby with my mom over one of my breaks and saw that all the Paper Place products were 50% off, I couldn't help myself. Their washi tape is easy to work with and just gorgeous!

8. Papermate Felt-Tip Pens

I'm a big stationary gal, and I recently won a giveway (eee!) through my bullet journal Instagram that included the Papermate felt-tip pens. Now, I have used these before, but not since approximately my junior year of high school, and the few that I have left are just barely holding on by a string. So when I got the giveaway package in the mail, I was excited to try them out again. And they are as good as you've heard! The colors are vibrant, the ink goes onto the page smoothly, and they are fun to write with.

9. Dr. Death

If you know me, you know that I love true crime, and that I love podcasts. And this is the best of both. It follows the story of Christopher Duntsch--a surgeon who, perhaps, should not be operating at all. It is a wild story, and I don't want to give away too much, but let's just say that the title is pretty spot on.

10. Criminal Minds

Now, this isn't a new development for me. I have had a strong long for all things Criminal Minds since my freshman year of college. But over the past month in particular my roommate and I have been watching it pretty much nonstop, and let me tell you--it never gets old. Another other Dr. Reid fans out there?
